Welcome to my circus.

GIVEAWAY from Pixie Dots *CLOSED*

I love personalized jewelry. There’s something so sweet about being able to carry the people who are important to you with you wherever you go. When I’m away from home, I take a necklace with me that represents my kids. They know I’m carrying them in my heart and will notice when I’m wearing it in pictures. So I was thrilled to find the work of Liz at Pixie Dots.

If you want to enter the giveaway to win your own personalized piece, here’s what I want you to do:

-Comment here with what you would pick with a $25 gift certificate: necklace or bracelet

-Go “like” the Pixie Dots Facebook page and let her know (on her share of this post) you were sent by A Musing Maralee. Be sure I’m tagged so I can see it.

I worked with Liz to create a special piece for a special family in my life. They have a new baby and he’s already stolen a big chunk of my heart. I was thrilled to be able to have Liz design something unique that would honor these precious boys.

Working with Liz was a total delight. Because I’m someone who is not artistically inclined and struggles with visualizing things, it was ideal to have someone to guide me through the process. She asked me great questions and narrowed down the options for me so I ended up with exactly the piece I was hoping for, but didn’t have the skills to articulate. She loves helping clients create something that’s meaningful to them and will gladly walk you through the process as you’re ordering.

I’d love for you to get to know more about Liz in her own words:

How long have you been creating jewelry? How did you start?
I’ve been making personalized jewelry just over 3 yrs.
My friend owned Pixie Dots and because she knew I was crafty and loved the jewelry, she asked me to work for her. After 2 years I took over.

What inspires you?
People’s stories inspire me. Everyone has a story, and trying to tell it with jewelry is one of my favorite parts.

How much time do you spend on your business?
I work daily in one aspect or another–phone calls, social media, and hand stamping my jewelry–but I really try to set specific hours so it doesn’t cut into time with my family, but during busy seasons, when it does, they just help.

What’s the most unique piece you’ve created or the most touching story you’ve heard about something you’ve made?
There are two that have special meaning to me because they both belong to people who are special to me.
The first one was a piece that my best friend’s husband ordered (and designed) for her with her boys names on it. While that in itself was special, after she wore it awhile she felt that it was missing something because she has 2 babies in heaven. So we added wings to finish her piece. She can now carry all of her kids next to her heart whenever she wears it.
The second piece was the first handwriting piece I’ve ever done, and it belongs to my mom; she never takes it off. The handwriting belongs to her late husband, my step father, who we lost just over 4 yrs ago.

What advice would you give to the creative mom who is considering starting her own business?
Advice, well I guess I’d say go for it if it’s something close to your heart, and you know you love doing it. My husband always says it’s not work if you love it.

So let’s give somebody the opportunity to work with Liz to create their own special piece!

These are two separate ways to enter so you can get a total of two entries into the drawing. I will draw a winner on Thursday at noon (CST).

Can’t wait to hear what you’re interested in getting!

*Congrats to our winner, Tami! I’m excited to see what you pick.*
