A Life in Status- November #1 & 2, 2013

Unprompted, an unmarried young guy from our church texted to find out what size diapers to bring for our foster baby because he’s “buying diapers for the first time ever” and doesn’t know about sizes.

Me: So did Danny tell you our big news?
Teacher: Nope.
Me: We have a new baby at the house for a little while.
Teacher: He didn’t mention it. But it was his day for the iPad, so he was kind of preoccupied.

(Baby was crying)
Bethany: MOM! She need her PEACEifier.

Teacher: So I asked Danny what the new baby’s name is. He insisted it was Dino.
No surprise there.

Bethany: Mom, can you help me button my coat?
Me: That’s not a button. It’s a zipper.
Bethany: Oh. Can you help me button my zipper?
Almost. . .

I was feeling bad for not writing anything for Orphan Sunday today. Then I realized I didn’t write anything because I’ve been so busy with our new foster baby. So I think it all evens out.

Sleep when the baby sleeps. Wonderful advice if you only have one child.

You know that thing when you fly about putting on your own oxygen mask before putting on your child’s? I think there’s a comparison to be made between that and drinking coffee prior to parenting. It may seem selfish, but it’s really best for everyone involved.
